Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems Announces Personnel Moves

FLINT, Mich. -- Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems announced today the following personnel announcements.

Dr. Detlev Schoppe has been named director of engineering, diesel systems. He joins Delphi after serving as director, research & development for common rail systems at Siemens, AG. Prior to that, he held positions as diesel development manager and diesel development engineer.

In this position, Schoppe will be responsible for both product and manufacturing engineering activities for Delphi's global diesel systems business. He succeeds Jose Avila, who has served as interim director of engineering, diesel systems since August. Schoppe will report to R. Scott Bailey, director, engineering, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and Dominique Chauvin, managing director, Europe operations, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems.

Jose A. Avila, currently interim director of engineering, diesel systems and former business line executive for the gas engine management systems (EMS) business line, has been named business line executive (BLE) for both the diesel and gas EMS business lines. Avila will succeed Bill Warren who will retire before the end of this year. In this new role, Avila will be responsible for managing product strategy, product success and the profit and loss for the diesel and gas EMS business lines.

Avila has been with Delphi for more than 17 years, serving in a variety of engineering roles. He also served four years at Delphi's European Technical Center in Bascharge, Luxembourg. He will report to Robert J. Remenar, executive director, business line operations and Dominique Chauvin, managing director, Europe operations, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems.

Steven A. Kiefer, currently the interim business line executive and chief engineer of the gas EMS business line, has been named business line executive for the gas EMS business line. Kiefer will report to Avila, and will be responsible for managing the product strategy, product success and the profit and loss for the gas engine management systems business line. Prior to this assignment, Kiefer was chief engineer for the EMS business line.

Kiefer joined Delphi in 1993, after 10 years with General Motors Powertrain Division, and has held several engineering roles, including four years at Delphi's European Technical Center in Luxembourg and three years serving as chief engineer for Delphi E&C's Asia Pacific operations in Tokyo. A successor for Kiefer will be named at a later date.

I'd also like to thank Bill Warren for his valuable contribution to Delphi, spanning more than 35 years. We wish him well in his future endeavors."
