Stronger Connections in Delphi's Future

Delphi completes the acquisition of FCI Group's Motorized Vehicles Division.

Delphi has strengthened its leading position in the high-growth connectors market with the acquisition of FCI Group's Motorized Vehicles Division (MVL), which becomes part of the Delphi Connection Systems (DCS) business unit.

Already an industry leader in the global manufacturing of electronics and technologies for automotive, commercial vehicles and other market segments, Delphi will leverage the acquisition to enhance its leadership as a global supplier of fully integrated connector solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers. The acquisition also accelerates Delphi's position as the largest global supplier in the Safety Restraint Systems (SRS) segment.

By acquiring FCI-MVL, a leading global provider of SRS and other high-performance interconnect systems, Delphi strengthens its global footprint to help ensure best-in-class quality, service and competitiveness.

"The transactions solidifies Delphi's position as one of the premier global automotive suppliers and will create significant shareholder value," according to Majdi Abulaban, president of Delphi Electrical/Electronic Architecture and president of Delphi Asia Pacific. "The addition of MVL enhances the high-value connector product portfolio of our Electrical/Electronic Architecture (E/EA) segment, broadens our mix of global customers and furthers our strategy of providing customers with solutions to address the trends of Safe, Green and Connected."

Safety restraint systems (SRS) are a critical part of each vehicle's safety systems.

Shield-Pack High-Power Connection Systems are specifically designed for high-voltage applications used on hybrid and electric vehicles.

Strategic Benefits

Strengthened Product Portfolio

By unifying two winning cultures to create a stronger future, the new DCS offers comprehensive interconnect solutions that are aligned to industry megatrends:

  • World leadership in safety restraint systems (SRS), a critical part of each vehicle's safety systems.
  • Complete line of data connectivity products that link vehicle occupants with the vehicle environment.
  • Full range of housings and terminals, providing an excellent combination between electrical and mechanical performance.
  • The most comprehensive portfolio of high power connection systems for global OEMs and device manufacturers.
  • Market leadership in mechatronics packaging (MEPA) and pin headers for the world's leading device manufacturers.
  • World-class liquid sealing technology products for automotive and industrial markets.

Enhanced Position with Customers in All Geographic Markets

By leveraging MVL's global manufacturing sites aligned to customer needs and its large employee base, DCS now has an even wider global footprint. MVL's manufacturing and engineering presence in China, India and Korea enables Delphi to further strengthen its position in the high-growth Asian market and expand relationships with leading global OEMs.
