Meeting Extraordinary Demands of Commercial Vehicles

Delphi showcases a comprehensive range of advanced technologies for commercial vehicles.

An industry-leading OEM supplier, Delphi offers innovative solutions for all transportation segments — automotive as well as commercial vehicle applications (both on- and off-highway) — with a product portfolio, design, and support services that cover applications in all types of environments.

This fall, Delphi will demonstrate its strong commitment to the commercial vehicle (CV) market by showcasing CV technologies at the 64th IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover, Germany. The show, with its motto Commercial Vehicles: Driving the Future, runs September 20-27, 2012, is the world's largest and most prestigious commercial vehicle event.

"Delphi is very well positioned to offer global CV customers an extensive product portfolio that addresses market trends with the design, engineering and manufacturing excellence they expect," said Michael Gassen, president, Delphi Europe, Middle East & Africa. "The IAA show is a great opportunity for Delphi to feature our strong heritage of innovation as it relates specifically to the commercial vehicle industry."

Commercial Vehicle Experts

Delphi's commitment to the commercial vehicle industry begins with robust, intelligent solutions for all segments of the CV market — in on-highway terms, this means light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty applications. Delphi also offers a full range of off-highway solutions as well as aftermarket products. Delphi's commercial vehicle products offer a wide range of durable and reliable innovations designed to meet the industry's demands while maximizing performance, safety, and driver comfort in all traffic situations.

Yet, Delphi's commitment to the CV market extends beyond the product line.

"We work closely with vehicle manufacturers at every stage of the development and production processes. It is our objective to help our customers anticipate demand and seamlessly integrate these advanced technologies into their vehicles," said Greg Kochendorfer, vice president, Global Commercial Vehicle Sales.

Today, Delphi continues to win new CV business with a wide variety of customers across the globe and across on-highway and off-highway market segments.

"Delphi's current sales in the commercial vehicle segment represent nearly 10% of our total global revenue, and we expect to see continued growth in the future," said Gassen.

Delphi's commercial vehicle technologies will be on display at the 64th Annual IAA Commercial Vehicles Show Sept. 20-27 in Hannover, Germany.

Addressing Megatrends

For Delphi, it is key to address the megatrends driving technological innovation:

  • Safe — helping drivers and passengers stay safe on the road
  • Green — reducing the impact of vehicles on the environment
  • Connected — connecting the vehicle to the world

The resulting CV product portfolio includes the following state-of-the-art technologies, specifically designed to meet extraordinary demands of modern-day CVs:

  • Safe technologies related to detection and mitigation, addressing driver distraction, and improving reaction time
  • Green technologies related to fuel economy improvements, emissions reduction, and electric/hybrid vehicle penetration
  • Connected technologies related to always-connected consumers, smart phone users, and a linkage to safety

"By offering innovative, cost-effective, and reliable advanced systems based on these technologies, we are able to help our global customers meet the specialized needs of the CV market anywhere in the world," said Kochendorfer.

Show Features Technology and More

Delphi's Tech Truck concept vehicle showcases Delphi's latest powertrain, safety, driver interface and system architecture technologies.

Delphi's new Tech Truck will make its public debut at the show. A large-scale, walk-in representation of a medium-duty/ heavy-duty commercial vehicle, the Tech Truck is a cross-divisional display showing a comprehensive range of Delphi powertrain, driver interface, and systems architecture technologies.

In addition to its booth on the Hannover show floor, Delphi will participate in a networking event for engineering students organized by the VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie), the German association of the automotive industry. The program, called workING 2012, offers future engineers the opportunity to learn about Delphi and meet with company representatives.

Beyond the IAA show, Delphi also plans to highlight commercial vehicle technologies at the SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress's Total Vehicle Integration, in Rosemont, Illinois, October 2-3, 2012.

Delphi is also planning to participate at CV events throughout 2013, including industry-related conferences and trade shows in many regions around the globe.
