The Perfect 'Passengers'

Delphi's integrated controls, displays, and security systems provide information, convenience and protection and are 'passengers' no driver should be without.

Delphi Advanced Steering Wheel Controls allow drivers to control more functions without increasing the number of switches on the steering wheel and can be designed to complement a vehicle's interior.

Mechatronics, Switches, and Controls

With expertise in design and manufacturing of switches, controls, sensors and electronics, Delphi offers individual controls as well as switch banks and mechatronic products that integrate mechanical and electronic functionality into a single module, including:

  • Advanced Steering Wheel Controls—designed to help drivers keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, they allow drivers intuitive control of more vehicle functions without increasing the number of switches on the steering wheel
  • Column Integrated Modules—integrate security and convenience features in a single steering column module, saving space and helping lower vehicle cost
  • Integrated Center Panel—a one-piece design that offers an enhanced HMI experience and provides users intuitive control of features like climate control, audio, navigation, telephone and vehicle personalization settings as well as styling flexibility and system cost savings
  • Roof Modules—offer system optimization by integrating mechanical and electronic components from the overhead area into a single module to enhance convenience and help to simplify assembly
  • Seat Control Modules—include the controls required for a new generation of vehicle seats, offering full seat management in a single module

Body Electronics

Delphi body computers are the heart of the vehicle architecture. They can connect vehicle systems and enable them to communicate with each other to enhance customer value. Among the body electronics products available from Delphi are:

  • Body Control Modules—enable inputs and outputs to be linked through powerful microprocessors; use of ASICs (application specific integrated circuits) and SMDs (surface mounted devices) helps ensure body electronics components are small, cost optimized and reliable
  • Body Control Module for Emerging Markets—offers standard features such as lock control, interior/exterior lighting control, motor and relay drive outputs, vehicle instrument cluster interface capability, HVAC and theft deterrent via CAN communication or discreet signals
  • Power Body Control Modules—combine power distribution and electronic control of body functions into a single package

Displays

With Delphi's innovative display technologies, the high-content, complex environment of today's vehicles is simplified by putting as much needed information in front of drivers as possible. This helps them to focus within a 20-degree field of view, keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Used in conjunction with convenient controls that adapt to a driver's preference, these products help keep a driver more informed, more in control and safer, all at once. Among the display solutions available from Delphi are:

  • Color-selectable Instrument Cluster—award-winning cluster incorporates patented color-mixing technology, enabling drivers to adapt interior lighting color to their personal tastes while offering brand differentiation to vehicle manufacturers
  • Hybrid Cluster—combines cost-effective, traditional cluster design and reconfigurable or solid state digital displays to offer vehicle manufacturers flexibility in information content and styling
  • Instrument Cluster for Low-cost Vehicles—scalable design, cost-effective development, and efficient production specifically designed to meet the requirements of the expanding low-cost vehicle market
  • Reconfigurable Displays—allow maximum flexibility for styling, functionality, and information content

Delphi's Bluetooth Gateway Fob allows the vehicle to communicate with a portable device, using the device's display to provide information to drivers.

Security and Vehicle Access Systems

Delphi security and vehicle access systems help keep drivers connected to their vehicles—even when they are not in them. The systems recognize drivers and convey instructions to the vehicle, inform drivers about their vehicles, and sense intrusion, inclination changes, and unauthorized drivers to help protect owners against theft. Delphi security and vehicle access systems include:

  • Anti-theft Systems—multiple systems include interior intrusion detection, inclination sensing devices, and sounders with battery back-up, all designed to inform users about the status of their vehicle
  • Bi-directional Key Fob—enables communication between the user and the vehicle, offering features beyond traditional remote keyless entry systems, including data transmission to the user via an active display
  • Bluetooth® Gateway Fob—long-range fob with an integrated Bluetooth® gateway enables two-way communication between a user and a vehicle through a portable device such as a Bluetooth® cellular phone or a PDA (personal digital assistant)
  • Immobilizer Systems—highly reliable theft deterrent systems that use a transponder and encrypted key code to authenticate users and enable or disable vehicle startup
