Testing Services

The Dimensional Measurement Laboratory at the Delphi Mexico Technical Center (MTC) is a state-of-the-art dimensional inspection facility designed to help engineering teams meet industry certification standards and customer product specification objectives. Delphi's team of highly trained and experienced technicians uses advanced, high-tech equipment to provide accurate and precise data for prototype and production component inspection.

The laboratory is a certified temperature and humidity controlled room. It specializes in services for automotive industry component development, but also offers the flexibility to support a wide range of non-automotive product programs.

Delphi's MTC Dimensional Measurement Laboratory ensures complete confidentiality in all test activities and will provide highly reliable data. Delphi offers the flexibility to meet the requirements of customers around the world. Services are conducted to meet program schedules and cost objectives as well as customer specific documentation for prototype submissions.

Capabilities

• Three Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
• Provide high speed scanning for form and length measurements, curve and freeform measurements, and reverse engineering.  They can accommodate a wide range of component sizes.
• CMM Unit #1 features Calypso software interface with vast probe head system:
• Measure volume: X = 1,200 mm; Y = 1,800 mm; Z = 1,000 mm
• 4th axis measurement using rotary table (e.g. capability for gears)
• CAD models can be used
• Reports can be generated with plotted data (i.e. graphs)
• CMM Unit #2 features Calypso software interface with vast probe head system:
• Measure volume: X = 1,000 mm; Y = 1,200 mm; Z = 600 mm
• CAD models can be used
• Reports can be generated with plotted data (i.e. graphs) 
• CMM Unit #3 features Usoft software interface with a single point probe head system:
  
• Measure volume: X = 400 mm; Y = 600 mm; Z = 300 mm

• Two units offer 10x, 20x, and 50x magnification, fiber-optic illumination for surface measurement
• One visual measurement system with 10x magnification
• Other unit with 35x and 455x magnification 
• Surface and Roughness Measurement System
• Measures surface finish parameters: Ra, Rz, Rt and others
• Provides detailed graph of surface finish (electronic or paper)
• Profilometer can measure different areas of components to help determine cutting location
• Surface map provides detailed surface form information
• Sensor provides accuracy level of 1 nanometer resolution  
• Roundness Measurement System
• Rotary table measures rotation of components and scans parts to provide roundness, cilindricity and straightness data
• Sensor provides accuracy level of 1 nanometer resolution 
• Detailed graph of roundness can be generated (electronic or paper)
• Spring Tension and Compression Tester
• Force ranges for equipment: 0 to 8.89 N and 44.48 to 222.4 N  (Can also be measured in lbs.)
• Outside diameter 20 mm, height 26 mm
