By eliminating the ground connection screw some assembly steps and costs are eliminated. The outer shield of a coaxial feed cable is coupled to a vehicle body panel near a window opening. The vehicle panel provides the ground for the antenna, eliminating the need for an attached grounding source. The resulting capacitance between the outer shield of the field cable and the vehicle body panel creates a very low impedance pathway for radio signals.
