Delphi Vision Inspection for Cable and Wire Surfaces utilizes software and process technologies to create an easily configurable assembly inspection workstation and includes algorithms for optical character verification and shape/design recognition. The system offers 99% uptime in a 24-hour, six-days-per-week manufacturing environment. Operations run manually using input signals from a programmable logic controller or personal computer (PLC/PC).
Delphi's vision inspection system for cable and wire surfaces enables a cable manufacturer to easily and quickly detect surface flaws in its product. This technology is ideal for any manufactured cable requiring a defect and gouge-free surface in its application. The system allows for complete inspection of all cable produced, preventing customer field failures and guaranteeing highest possible quality. The system has a simple equipment setup and requires only basic vision software for analysis. The process is contact-free and is insensitive to factors such as relative movement or curvature of the cable. It is readily adaptable for use on any size or shape cable.
Inspecting cable surfaces as the cable is produced prevents waste of potentially miles of damaged cable and associated costs. Inspection also greatly reduces the expensive burdens of customer warranty costs. This system is the only method currently available for cable surface defect detection that is quick, reliable, low-cost, and extremely adaptable.
