Delphi Custom-color Backlight Display Technology

Delphi Custom-color Backlight Display Technology enables innovative use of color-converting translucent plastic. A light delivery system enables the custom-color backlighting with lower cost, off-the-shelf blue LEDs (light emitting diodes) that absorb one color and emit another.
One example of this technology is illuminating a vehicle's audio system and highlighting the controls on the instrument panel. In recognition of this innovative technology, Delphi won a Society of Plastic Engineers SPE® 2007 Award for custom backlighting using color converting plastic offered on the instrument panel of a vehicle.
