The Delphi Dock & Lock Self-aligning Connection System allows for self-aligning and blind-mate electrical connections when two mechanical housings are fit together. A simple design allows for larger pins, higher capacity, and higher design tolerances than traditional connectors. Current applications operate at voltages of 0.5-16 V DC and currents of 0.5-7.5 A. Misalignment is limited to +3.0 mm side to side and up and down with +2.5 fore/aft. Engaging forces average 1.25 N per contact. Variations in design and specifications are possible.
Delphi's dock and lock system allows for self-aligning and blind-mate electrical connections when two mechanical housings are fitted together. A unique floating plate mechanism allows an electrical component to be mated to a flexible printed circuit harness or a traditional round wire harness.
Dock and lock connectors are suitable for multi-row connections and a varying number of discrete terminals. Its simple design allows for larger pins, higher current capacity, and higher design tolerances than traditional connectors. Dock and lock connectors easily facilitate disengagement and servicing up to 10 engages or disengages.
Dock and lock connections are currently in use in the automotive industry for attachment of instrument panel components such as radios and front-end modules. Current applications operate at voltages of 0.5-16 V DC and currents of 0.5-7.5 A. Misalignment is limited to ±3.0 mm side to side and up and down with ±2.5 fore/aft. Dock and lock withstands engaging forces of 1.25 N per contact. Variations in design and specifications are possible.
