Delphi Dual-beam Radar Back-up Aid for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles is designed to help drivers back up and park with more confidence. Permanently mounted on the rear of the vehicle or temporarily mounted using the vehicle’s trailer hitch, Back-up Aid’s 24 GHz, dual-beam radar monitors up to a 6-meter (20-foot) deep by 2.75-meter (9-foot) wide area behind the vehicle. Using audible and visual alerts, Forewarn Back-up Aid warns drivers when vehicles and other objects are detected in their blind spot. Distinct tones indicate the vehicle’s distance from the detected object. These distance-based alerts are especially helpful in tight parking situations.

Active safety products are designed to supplement other safety practices. The system is not designed to detect smaller objects, especially those close to the ground. There is always the possibility that an object in the Back-up Aid's detection zone may not be detected. Responsibility for control of the vehicle and safe vehicle operation remains with the driver.
