Delphi Airbag Control Unit – E4

Delphi's ACU-E4 is an Airbag Control Unit designed to detect frontal crashes and control deployment of two crash restraints.  The ACU can control up to four restraints in any combination of airbags and pretensioners.

  • ACU-E4 is designed to meet the requirements of the emerging safety market. It provides exceptional performance at very low cost.
  • ACU-E4 senses vehicle crashes using an internal sensor.  A crash sensing algorithm monitors the internal sensor and controls deployment of the restraints based on performance requirements for the specific vehicle in which it is installed.
  • ACU-E4 provides an energy reserve function to help guarantee deployment of all restraints in the case where power is lost during a crash.  The ACU also provides the capability for creating and storing an event record to provide information about the crash for future analysis.
  • ACU-E4 provides continuous diagnostics for external and internal functions.  It provides an output to drive a system readiness indicator LED and up to three additional low-side drivers and up to five resistive sensor inputs.  The ACU also provides a serial communication interface for communicating diagnostic and event record information.
