The Delphi EPIC Diesel Fuel Injection System is a full authority fuel injection system for direct injection and indirect injection engines and is designed to help vehicle manufacturers meet Euro 3 or equivalent emission regulations.  The EPIC System features a proven Delphi fuel injection pump and is operated by an electronic control unit (ECU).  In addition to helping reduce engine emissions, it helps provide improved engine idle and better driving performance.  Other major features of the Delphi EPIC System include:

• Internal cam pumping
• Closed-loop control of fuel metering and timing
• Dashboard interface

Typical Applications

The Delphi EPIC Diesel Fuel Injection System is available for use with indirect injection (IDI) engines with injection pressures up to 350 bar, and direct injection (DI) engines with injection pressures up to 950 bar.

Performance Advantages

The principal component of the Delphi EPIC Diesel Fuel Injection System is its fuel injection pump which includes Delphi's proven cam pumping mechanism. Fuel enters the pumping chamber via a transfer pump. The ECU, which receives input from sensors positioned at various points in the vehicle, the engine, and the pump, sends the appropriate signals to the pump's drain and feeds pump actuators to operate at chosen timing and fuel delivery and enables accurate control of the fuel injection.
