Delphi Charge Inlets

The Delphi Charge Inlets comply with SAE J1772, an industry-standard vehicle interface for convenient charging of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). Delphi's inlets were designed to support Level 1 and Level 2 charging. The Delphi Charge Inlets are recognized under the Component Recognition Program of Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

Two options of the Delphi Charge Inlets are available:

  • With hinged integral cover for splash protection to protect the receptacle
  • Without cover for use in applications with an OEM-provided cover

Benefits

  • Compliant to SAE J1772 standard interface to allow mating to Delphi's Portable Electric Vehicle Charger and systems used in the charging infrastructure
  • Inlet available in two configurations:
    • Without cover
      • OEM to provide cover in vehicle applications
    • With latching cover
      • Hinged cover provides protection from elements such as splash to allow for placement in locations such as the bumper
      • Damper provides a smooth open feature for the door
      • Inlet is symmetrical to allow the cover to open in a left or right orientation
  • Compression limiters for over torque protection at assembly plant
  • Rubber boot attached to rear of inlet to provide harness protection
  • Drain holes optimized to help eliminate water that may collect in terminal cavities
  • Terminal crimps are isolated and sealed to protect the inlet from harsh environments
  • Power terminals protect against arcing during a hot disconnect by integrating plastic tips in the terminal design
  • Plating on terminals designed specifically to meet with 10,000 mate/unmate cycles

The Delphi Portable Electric Vehicle Charger can mate to the Delphi Charge Inlet for safe, convenient electric vehicle charging.

The Delphi Charge Inlet is compatible with any SAE J1772 coupler interfaces.

Typical Applications

The Delphi Charge Inlets can be used with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV).
