Delphi's revolutionary Ultra Light Radio integrates 29 patented technologies to offer vehicle manufacturers a plastic case radio that weighs significantly less than sheet metal radios. The unique design results in a weight savings of 22 percent or 1.2 pounds (0.54 kilograms) per unit.
Using an insert-molded Faraday cage to provide robust EMC shielding and up-integrated mechanical assembly features, the radio's new slide lock/snap lock assembly process does not require vehicle manufacturers to make any structural modifications to their vehicles to house the newly designed radios.
