Country Information

Brazil is a country defined by its thriving economy, diversity, production of automobiles, and more recently, ethanol. Brazil has the largest gross domestic product in Latin America. In the fuel industry, Brazil has the largest production of ethanol in the world, and many Brazilians use ethanol as an alternative source of fuel. The growing production of this fuel source has helped reduce the number of pollutants in the air and offers a potential alternative to fossil fuels, making this an exciting time in the Brazilian automotive industry. Over the past decade, there has been substantial growth in Brazil's economy, with unlimited potential for further growth.

Delphi Presence

Delphi Brazil's presence is strong as Brazil is the leading automotive market in South America. Since its emergence in 1942, Delphi Brazil has shown remarkable growth. Most Delphi facilities are located in the São Paulo metropolitan area, which is the site of Delphi South America's regional headquarters. All Delphi Brazil locations exhibit a modern, global influence, and while Portuguese is the official language, English is widely spoken. Delphi Brazil's facilities have the conveniences and tools necessary to safety, efficiently produce high quality products.

In Piracicaba, Delphi developed its multifuel technologies that allow vehicles to run on any mix of ethanol and gasoline. Currently, approximately 25 percent of the ethanol gasoline engines in Brazil feature Delphi multifuel technology. In Cotia, Delphi developed a multifuel system that allows commercial and heavy vehicles to run with compressed natural gas and diesel. As the same facility, Delphi is working with biodiesel researchers to examine the parameters that affect biodiesel performance.

Delphi Brazil's customers include the most prominent vehicle manufacturing companies in the world, many of which have facilities in Brazil. The automotive industry in Brazil is undergoing the largest boom in its history.
