Local Caution System

Delphi Local Caution System

The Delphi Local Caution System allows race officials to warn drivers of a caution condition over a full race course or only in a localized area of the race track. The system was developed by Delphi and uses an Industrial Radio Control System from Futaba®. The system consists of the following:
  • A light module which houses the light and the receiving portion of Futaba Industrial Radio Control System
  • A hand-held transmitter for turning the light on and off
  • A rechargeable battery module (not shown in the picture)
Each light module has a dedicated hand-held transmitter for activation of the light. This eliminates the possibility that another hand-held transmitter can activate the wrong light. Futaba's exclusive direct sequence data encoding coupled with a 16 bit identification code (65,536 unique address codes) provides a high level of security and reliability.

Even in the event of loss of power at a track, the Delphi Local Caution System is powered by back-up systems and will still help warn drivers of upcoming hazards. The system is also water resistant and dustproof.

Benefits

  • Enhanced safety for drivers by providing a more visible and consistent notification of a caution
  • Enhanced safety for corner workers since they can be located further from the racing track (vs. leaning over into the track to wave a flag)
  • Portable system can be easily transported between races

Typical Applications

The Delphi Local Caution System is currently used by Indy Car©. Delphi can also work with additional motorsports series that use road and street courses.
