Earpiece Sensor System

Delphi Earpiece Sensor System

The Delphi Earpiece Sensor System was designed to measure dynamic forces applied to a driver's head during an accident. This system uses small sensors integrated into the left and right radio earpieces worn by the driver. The six accelerometers—one for each of the three axes on each side—measure head acceleration in the X, Y, and Z axes during an accident. The combined data from the Delphi Earpiece Sensor System and on-board accident data recorder provide accident researchers valuable data for a clearer picture of what happens during an accident.

Benefits

  • Precisely measures dynamic forces
  • Provides accurate, valuable data

Typical Applications

The Delphi Earpiece Sensor System is used by IndyCar© and National Hot Rod Association (NHRA®). Delphi can also work with additional motorsports series.
